Which mobs do you most often tame in the game? For example, these may be ocelots, wolves, parrots, horses, and many others. In the vanilla version of Minecraft, there are plenty of creatures, and you can interact with all of them. However, over time, players want even more functionality, especially with the huge variety of mods that allow you to expand the game world in just a couple of clicks. And if you feel there aren’t enough standard creatures in the game, we recommend paying attention to the addon described in this material. Now you will have more mobs to tame, each with unique abilities and behavior.

The Animal Garden – Porcupine mod adds tameable porcupines to the game, which you can interact with, feed, breed, and more. This is an entirely new type of animal for Minecraft, offering new opportunities for any player, both in single-player and on servers. In fact, this developer has created a whole series of modifications that integrate new creatures into the game world, and this is one of them. If you want to know what features and options this addon offers, carefully read our review, where we tried to explain everything in detail and visually show the results!

One of the mechanics in the cubic world involves taming and breeding domestic animals, and many players use this opportunity to have a companion, sell pets to other users on servers, or simply travel with them. And if cats, dogs, parrots are not enough for you, it’s time to tame a porcupine! It lives only in certain regions, has a unique appearance, and immediately stands out among all other creatures in the game world.

Porcupines will mainly spawn in forest biomes, drawing players’ attention with their appearance. The mob is small, similar to a hedgehog. In size, it is no bigger than ocelots in the vanilla version of the game. You can look at the screenshots to see how these creatures look in Minecraft. The porcupine is neutral toward all players on the server, but if you attack it, it will respond with quills, dealing decent damage. These mobs can even be used to protect your buildings or accompany you in combat. If an enemy accidentally hits a porcupine, it will immediately retaliate. They don’t move very quickly across biomes, but they stand out greatly due to their expressive eyes — when you look at them, you might remember the “Shrek” movie with the Puss in Boots character.

You can tame these mobs using apples. To do this, you need to take apples and feed them to the porcupine several times. If you want to breed these animals, you will need berries, which trigger the breeding process. With this, you can create full-fledged farms and sell or trade porcupines. All animals spawn in the same color, both young and adult. If the animal has lost HP, you can restore it using sweet berries. It is recommended to install some third-party mod for displaying mob health and parameters, since the standard Minecraft functionality does not allow this.

Porcupines have increased armor values, making them an excellent option for traveling—they can defend themselves and deal damage to other mobs if attacked. Take them with you on your journeys, breed them using all available berries and fruits, create full farms to sell animals or use them as a resource source. The modification is not extremely popular compared to more global addons, but such features allow you to diversify the game world a bit and make survival more fun.

You can also use spawn eggs to summon a porcupine. And if you click a spawn egg on an adult, a baby will appear. It looks very similar to the adult but moves much faster—almost like a silverfish. Overall, the mod turned out to be nice and interesting. It launches correctly, doesn’t load your PC, doesn’t clutter the game world, and doesn’t require players to study a lot of information as large mods with dozens of new creatures do. In Animal Garden – Porcupine, you only have one mob, and it fully accomplishes its intended purpose.

The developer of this addon has released a whole series of separate modifications that add new animals to Minecraft. If you want to diversify the game world even more, you can install Animal Garden – Owl (beautiful owls) or Animal Garden – Meerkat (meerkats). Each of these addons adds only one type of creature, but they are highly detailed, have pleasant animation, colorful textures, interesting loot, the possibility of taming, and many other features. A great mod both for vanilla survival and for any popular modpack in the game.
