Minecraft lacks role-playing mechanics that would attract players — all they get from mobs is loot, which is mostly predictable and differs only by predefined drop chances in loot tables. That’s why you can more or less calculate what you’ll get from killing certain creatures. Players build various farms and gather resources, but it becomes routine for most. If you want to change the standard gameplay a bit, you can use third-party add-ons to diversify the usual survival mode.

The Dropped Buffs modification adds a large variety of “positive effects” that drop as items when killing different mobs. If you’d like to enhance the standard gameplay, add RPG elements, or motivate players on your server to fight mobs more actively, then you should definitely check out this mod. The idea is interesting, and the effects are already familiar — only now you get them for free by slaying different entities. Just imagine how many bonus “goodies” you could collect from a mob farm if set up properly! Ready to try something new? Then let’s go!

Effects drop after a mob dies with a certain chance, defined in the config file. You can tweak these values and add your own effects if desired. Even the default settings are enough to shake up survival gameplay and offer valuable bonuses during combat. Around 10 types of effects are available and can help immediately — for example, when you're low on health or need to absorb damage fast. You can also keep the items in your inventory for later use — it's completely up to you.

Currently, the Dropped Buffs mod includes the following types of effects:
· Absorption Buff – lasts 30 seconds, level II, appears as a yellow checkmark;
· Speed Buff – lasts 30 seconds and increases movement speed. Looks like a pickaxe;
· Healing Buff – instantly restores 10 HP. Appears as a red checkmark;
· Invisibility Buff – gives 30 seconds of invisibility from both players and mobs. Looks like a mirror, with a detailed design;
· Luck Buff – grants Luck effect for 30 seconds. Icon resembles a green snowflake or flower;
· Meat Buff – drops a piece of meat for quick hunger restoration;
· Resistance Buff – grants Resistance effect for 30 seconds;
· Strength Buff – grants a Strength bonus for 30 seconds. Very useful for boosting attack power on demand;
· Water Breathing Buff – gives 30 seconds of water breathing, but only drops if the mob was killed underwater;
· Fire Resistance Buff – gives 30 seconds of protection from fire, which is helpful in the Nether;
· Night Vision Buff – grants 30 seconds of night or underwater vision, but only works if the player is in darkness; otherwise, the item disappears.

These buffs drop automatically with a defined chance when killing mobs. The base chance is about 5%, but other modifiers also apply: +2% for Looting level and +3% if the Luck effect is active. It’s great that the mod’s developer included such scaling, making it more interactive. Another important mechanic: only the player who killed the mob can pick up the dropped buff item. So, if you’re fighting in a group or clan, only the killer gets the reward. This is crucial for multiplayer gameplay.

Most of the effects are taken from vanilla Minecraft, but you can easily change them or add your own variants from other add-ons. The config file allows full customization in just a few clicks. You can change drop chances, icons, or even completely redefine the buffs. The developer understood that not every player would enjoy these effects — especially if the mod is part of a traditional survival pack — so every setting can be tailored to your liking. Try playing with this mod and share in the comments which buff you liked most — maybe based on its icon or usefulness!
